The app your offer to your consumers should worth something to them. If you are going to ask your consumers to download your app on their smartphones, it will be easier to convince them if they are going to get something in return. Because the app is going to consume the memory space on their phone, you should at least have something to gain.

While customer metrics will eventually offer benefits to your consumers, people always want to know what makes it worth to them right now. Instead of sending them just advertisement messages, let them get some special offers. In that way, you will be able to build a relationship with the customers and they won’t even think of uninstalling your app.

  • Be honest

Honesty is the best policy, or so they say. Honesty matters a lot especially when you are asking your customers to share their personal details such as their current location with you. You should ask them for permission to use beacon technology by giving them an opt-in when they download your app for your store.

Make it clear to your consumers the information you are going to gather, how you are going to use such information, and what is in it for them. In that way, you will allow them to make informed decisions. You should avoid forcing the benefits of beacons on people. Instead, ask for their permission.

  • Train your staff

Before rolling out beacon technology in your store, it’s important that you train your employees. Training employees when adding a new technology to your store makes a difference because they will know how to use the technology for the benefit of your business and consumers. If your employees don’t know how to use beacon technology properly, the technology will not do so much. Your staff should be able to answer all the questions your customers might ask about using the app.

  • Utilize In-Store signage

You should know that in-store beacons only works when your consumer is carrying the phone, has downloaded the app, has turned on Bluetooth as is sharing his or her current location. Therefore, missing any of these steps will lead to failure of the beacon technology.
